USS LOWNDES APA 154 REUNION
MESSAGE FROM THE REUNION COMMITTEE
The "FIRST ANNUAL USS LOWNDES - APA ]54 REUNION"
was held in St. Louis, MO, the
gateway to the west, on June 23, 24 & 25. Our very special thanks to all
who participated in
making this momentous event a success. Feedback indicates that a great time
was had by all in
•renewing old acquaintances and rehashing old times.
Over 50 crew members were there and a
total of 114 bodies (live) at our banquet. For the record, Missouri had the
highest attendance
with 12, followed by Texas - 7, Illinois - 5, 35 from 17 also ran states. We
are looking for a
larger turn out next year at the Raddison Hotel (downtown Duluth, MN) in September.
June
July were booked solid so Dick Jones opted for September. We need your help
in locating
more crew members. *

* You know you're getting old when the candles cost more than the cake, so hurry.
It was a wonderful three days in St. Louis seeing
our shipmates after a time tape of 43 years.
Of course there was a lot of name tag reading and "Oh sure I remember you"
or " I can't place
you right now". We all have added a pound or two and the slim bodies have
disappeared, the
hair has thinned out and a little gray is starting to show. But one thing has
not changed, the
sprit of friendship we all acquired aboard the 154. -
George & Glenda Tuppan

Our mailing list consists of 137 fellows. Give a
great big hand to Dan Wisdom, he has done
a tremendous job and is still in there pitching. Thanks Dan.
Which brings up another minor, small, wee, itty
bitty detail. Dues are due. I wonder who
sent me 10 Japanese Centavos. We heartily accept payment.
Did you know that from 1835 to 1837 the United States had no national debt?
Now.' For 1991 - is there some kind, enterprising
soul out there who would be willing to host
our third annual reunion? Should start thinking and working on it in the near
future so we can
be assured of a possible June date ( which most prefer) Whoever will be willing
to undertake
this project will not lock for help. Believe me, it's fun, right Dick and Bunnie?
Th rsults ar nvr th sam uniss vrybody pitchs in and Inds a hand.
To Earl and Frances Robertson, Dick and Bunnie Jones
for their help in registration and
tour arrangements. Oh yeah .' My wife Jean counted the money and it came out
just right.
