APA Historical Preservation Project - Save the Gage (APA-168)
Mission
To acquire, restore and preserve the Haskell-class attack transport USS Gage APA-168,
the last originally configured World War II attack transport (APA) at an appropriate venue
as a World War II (and Korea & Vietnam) memorial/museum/ceremonial ship.
To preserve the history of all APAs, the crews who manned them and the marines, soldiers
and sailors who ventured into battle aboard them in the great amphibious campaigns of the Second
World War in Europe, North Africa and the Pacific -- as well as Korea and Vietnam. And to honor
all those who served, and especially those who perished, in those historic campaigns.
